Two Earthquakes in Granada, the First with Magnitude 4.4 Makes the City Tremble.

On the 23rd of January, the City of Granada in the Peninsula experienced 2 earthquakes on the same day. The first at around midday was first recorded to have struck the region at 12:15pm with a recorded magnitude of 4.4, this left some buildings damaged and unfortunately, one person injured.

The second earthquake was felt at around 6 in the evening with a recorded magnitude of 3.3 which was not as intense as the first one.

Many homes, supermarkets, schools, and heritage sites were all damaged in some way or another. The city of Santa Fe was the epicentre of both earthquakes and according to the National Geographic Institute, the first earthquake occurred 5 kilometres.

After these initial earthquakes, another six aftershocks were recorded which fluctuated between 1.6 and 2.7 on the Richter scale.
