First Snow of 2021 is Here.

On January 8th El Teide revealed itself from the clouds, glistening in the sun full of snow! I could not help myself and immediately drove up the mountain to see, only to be greated by snow flurries and closed roads.

After storm Filomena brought strong winds, in places in excess of 100kph, and deposited heavy rainfalls across the archipelago, Teide was bound to be covered in snow.

Filomena passed, the clouds began to clear and people woke up to beautiful views of the volcano blanketed in a genorous layer of snow. This is when I drove up to the national park to see this for myself, along the climb up the roads I passed through snow flurries and felt the temperature drop.

January 9th

Teide had received more snow overnight and the office for carreteras had closed all routes to the mountain, but that did not stop people from taking beautiful photos of the volcano covered in snow.
