Despite the recommendation not to travel between municipalities and to avoid places where crowding may occur, many people descended upon the national park to see the snow that had fallen over the previous days.
This led to chaos and major traffic jams trying to access the mountains and Teide itself, due to the fact that the roads where blocked and closed.
