Tenerife is Once Again the Island with the Most Daily Infections.

Tenerife with 2,029 active cases overtakes Gran Canaria to become the most infected island once again.

The Ministry of Health for the Canary Islands confirms today 221 new cases of coronavirus. The total accumulated cases in the Canary Islands is 42,496 with 3,948 active, of which 74 are admitted to the ICU and 308 remain hospitalized. In the last hours, the death of an 85-year-old man has been reported in Gran Canaria, linked to a family outbreak. He remained hospitalized, suffered from previous pathologies and had experienced a worsening of his clinical condition.

The Accumulated Incidence at 7 days in the Canary Islands stands at 58.61 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and at 14 days at 112.29 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

By island, Tenerife today adds 112 cases with a total of 17,788 accumulated cases and 2,029 epidemiologically active cases; Gran Canaria has 17,489 accumulated cases, 76 more than the previous day and 1,978 active. Lanzarote adds 11 new cases with 4,496 accumulated and 97 epidemiologically active; Fuerteventura has 1,782 accumulated cases with 23 more cases than the previous day and 184 active. La Palma does not add new cases and remains with 428 accumulated and 31 active cases; El Hierro without new cases, maintains it at 296 accumulated cases and active cases are at six. On the other hand, in La Gomera, due to a statistical adjustment, a positive is subtracted, so that its accumulated stand at 217 and its currently active cases are at five.

To date, a total of 899,598 PCR tests have been carried out in the Islands, of which 3,411 correspond to yesterday.
