Last Night The Canary Islands Registered Two of the Top Ten Windiest Places in Spain.

Gusts reached over 100km/h and chilly temperatures below zero have been recorded in the mountainous regions of Tenerife and La Palma.

It certainly got very windy yesterday and I know in Los Gigantes it poured down with rain, shortly after 4pm and then again later into the night. The wind was howling outside as it whipped around my building, I even had to move my plants from my balcony in fear of them being blown away.

With the tail end of storm Karim battering the islands, winds reached above 100km/h wherein Izaña, Tenerife, (observatory in the Parque Nacional) they recorded a maximum of 113km/h (70mph) whilst in La Gomera, winds reached 93km/h (57.7mph). Making these some of the strongest winds recorded in all of Spain yesterday.

The storm has also brought with it cold weather as at Izaña temperatures of -1.7°c were recorded and in Roque de los Muchachos, in La Palma, the thermometer dropped to -0.6 ºC.
