Carnival Period Restrictions.

The government has published in the BOC all the restrictions which are to remain in place over the carnival period.

These restrictions, as mentioned before, are there to prevent further contagion of the virus throughout this period of, exceptional social gatherings and fiestas. 

These measures are in effect, regardless of our new alert level and take precedence over what would be the norm for alert level 1.

For instance, in alert level 1, we would enjoy a 1am curfew time, but in these special carnival restrictions, we will have it reduced from 11pm to 10pm.

Bars & Restaurants

Outdoor capacity at 100% given there is a 2 meter gap in between chairs of different tables. Indoor capacity at 75%. Establishments must close at 10:00pm. Collection and delivery options allowed until 10:00pm.

Masks must be worn at all times by staff. 

Masks must be worn at all times by clients except at the moment of taking a drink or food. 

Consumption at the bar is prohibited. 

You can only consume at your table, e.g no taking drinks to the street when smoking. 

Smoking is prohibited on the premises and you must be 5 meters away from the entrance. This includes vaping. 

Customers must remain seated unless it's absolutely necessary to walk about the premises, e.g to go to the loo. 

Group Sizes

Limit of 6 people per table unless cohabitants, e.g a large family of 8 who reside in the same house. 

Parties, events and activities that incite social gatherings

In restaurants and bars: karaokes, dances, competitions etc that make it impossible to maintain the restrictions and/or encourage crowd interaction are prohibited. 

All other events outside of these establishments, e.g private parties, events celebrations etc are also prohibited. 

Curfew

The curfew will be between 10pm and 6am, except for essential activities. 

Public Transport

Capacity is limited to 50% and masks are mandatory

Travel to other islands

You can travel to islands in alert levels 1 and 2, as islands in alert levels 3 and 4 are closed off. 

Remember that the basic preemptive measures are still in place and you should wear your mask at all times. Clean your hands with hand sanitiser when entering establishments and maintain the interpersonal safety distances where possible.
