A Big Thank You to all the Readers of Tenerife Times.

It's only been one month since I went public with Tenerife Times and the website has grown tremendously in such a short space of time. Still, there is so much more to do!

First of all, I would like to say thank you to all the people who have read an article, liked the page or a post on Facebook, or even just clicked on a hyperlink. Every little thing helps and you might not even realise it.

In the space of a month (Jan 20th - Feb 20th) there have been 1,400 new users on the website, accumulating over 5,200 views. To me those figures are astronomical and I never expected it. Of those new users, 782 come from Spain and 628 from the UK, with the rest made up from Ireland, the USA and other European countries.

I took the decision to add advertisements to the website a week ago because I wanted the website to be self-sufficient and earn just enough money to cover the cost of hosting. Hopefully, the adverts don't intrude too much on the reading experience and with time I can optimise the feature.

Additionally, with my workplace being closed due to the pandemic and lack of tourists, I really needed a project to keep me sane, whilst waiting to return to work. Tenerife Times has become my baby, an accumulation of the skills I've learnt over the years and determination to be constructive.

Therefore it makes me very happy to know that in the first month there has been such a great response to the website and it gives me the drive to push on even more.

I have several ideas in my mind of where to go next, I need to write more helpful guides and I have work to do in the backend of the website, for example, I need to optimise parts of my management dashboard. Who knows in the future I might even have other authors on the website and I am thinking about creating profile pages for the authors.

So many things to consider, create and write, and hopefully through the next month and beyond I will see more growth. But for now, I would like to say thank you again and stay safe.
