The Ministry of Health to Propose to all Regions of Spain Extra Restrictions for Easter.

Proposing a 14-day curfew from 10pm, students not to return home with perimeter closures of autonomous regions. All to fight covid19 and prepare the country for tourism to return at the end of May.

A document will be presented which highlights extra measures should be in place from March 26th to April 9th. The document named 'Proposal of public health measures against COVID-19 for the Easter holidays 2021', to which Europa Press has had access to, in which it is also urged to "avoid all those trips that are not necessary."

The proposals indicate that students who study in other countries or regions should remain where they are and not return home, with all autonomous communities disallowing inter-community travel, for instance travelling from Tenerife to the mainland. That alert levels remain the same and are not lowered throughout the two weeks.

Furthermore like the restrictions for carnival, the proposals suggest that any mass events are prohibited, stating that events 'Proposal of public health measures against COVID-19 for the Easter holidays 2021', to which Europa Press has had access, in which it is also urged to "avoid all those trips that do not are necessary." "Ceremonies in closed spaces will follow the rules of capacity and other measures established according to the alert level of each autonomous community," the text says.

The carnival restrictions are further echoed as the curfew will be put in place regardless of alert level, from 10pm to 6pm. With other restrictions reducing capacity and group numbers in catering establishments and private residences. Discouraging the public from inviting guests to their homes and holding events of any kind in closed spaces.

The document argues that under normal circumstances the Easter holidays incite displacement of people due to them taking holidays, returning to family residencies and the like. Where, especially with coronavirus prevailing and the new strains being more infectious, the need to reduce the chance of contagion is greater than the need to save the celebrations of Easter.

Although many people are now feeling 'pandemic fatigue' they must realise that these measures will be for the future good of the country, if the incidence rates can be controlled, infections reduced and hospital capacities relieved of pressure tourists will be able to return and the cogs of the economy can begin to slowly wind again.

To reiterate the words of the President of the Canary Islands, after each festival there have been a rebound in new cases and restrictive measures help to control and prevent this.
