Reinforced level 3 restrictions for Tenerife.

Details have emerged following the council meeting yesterday in which reinforced restrictive measures will be introduced at midnight on Saturday night to help fight the developing cases of coronavirus in younger people.

The changes made to restrictions for islands in level 3 (currently Tenerife) are as follows:

· Reintroducing a curfew from 00:30 to 06:00 hours (currently waiting for court approval).

· Night time closure of beaches, plazas, squares and other spaces from 20:00 to 06:00 where it is possible that there could be crowds or people drinking in public. 

· Prohibition of the sale of alcohol in retail i.e. shops, supermarkets, minimarkets etc from 20:00 hours. 

· Capacity restrictions in commercial centres and parks to 25%. Where there is to be no waiting around in common areas, unless queuing to enter the stores. 

· Prohibition of shows in closed spaces where social distancing cannot be maintained and/or the use of masks cannot be controlled. Outdoor performances are acceptable as long as the distance between the performers and the audience can be guaranteed. 

· Banning of events with more than 700 people, and events with fewer people are discouraged. Postponement of any event or celebration not subject to prior consent is recommended. 

· Working remotely at home is encouraged wherever possible. 

· 33% capacity limitation of public transport, especially the busiest routes.

Blas Trujillo, the Minister of Health outlined that these measures are targeting the activities of younger people, who are currently the ones where the virus is more prevalent. 

Continuing as before the same restrictions for bars and restaurants remain in place, which was agreed upon after the supreme court rejected the proposals to close interiors of bars and restaurants.

· 75% capacity on terraces with 6 per table.

· 40% capacity in interiors with 4 per table. However, if 10% of patrons have received both doses of the vaccination this can be raised to 50% capacity. Additionally, a table of 6 can be made if all 6 members have had both doses of the vaccine. 

· At the bar, only 2 people per group. 

· All clients using the interiors must be registered.

· Closing time remains at midnight. 

· All other health protocols such as the distancing of tables, masks, hand gel and no smoking must also be adhered to.
